The Role

This role leads the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of one or more major modules of the University’s ERP business systems, in line with the strategic requirements of the University while providing specialist expertise to business stakeholders and technical teams to convert software requirements into technical solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with business and technology leads across the University and with other stakeholders, providing specialist technical knowledge to establish requirements and manage the design, development and successful implementation of ERP systems and modules. Produce technical specs, process documentation, test-plans and manage go lives
  • Leads the production of innovative solutions, translating these into technical requirements, to maximise service quality, efficiency and continuity. Assist in managing internal and external resources to ensure solutions are delivered on time to requirements, documenting processes and coordinating system and user acceptance testing
  • Configure and test solutions in SAP and other applications to deliver new and improved services and ensure they perform as intended and required by the business while reducing any risk to existing services to acceptable levels
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders in order to design, develop, deliver and maintain effective business solutions. Provide specialist advice about system functionality and supporting stakeholders in effective use of the systems
  • Act as a senior SAP subject matter expert and use this knowledge to deliver excellence in operational support, project and change delivery and help in defining the future SAP strategy. Act as a point of escalation for SAP issues whether they be related to support, change or project delivery
  • Act as a deputy to the team manager if so required and take responsibility for management of tasks and activities allocated to them by their manager
  • Acts a coach and mentor to other members of the team, share their knowledge and help to build up the capability of the SAP team overall
  • Engage with stakeholders across NUIT and the University to build and maintain good working relationships and ensure there is a clear understanding of University requirements within the team
  • Act as a trusted advisor, building robust and collaborative relationships with other IT and University leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs
  • Lead on any project or change related activity as part of wider NUIT or NU project teams
  • Be responsible for developing best-practise policies, standards, procedures and guidelines for development of SAP, guided by NUIT standards and other stakeholders
  • Any other reasonable duties that fall within the scope of the post, as allocated by the line manager

 

The Person

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Extensive technical background in the SAP technologies used by NUIT
  • Substantial experience of delivering SAP development and configuration services to a dispersed customer base in multiple locations
  • Experience of business analysis to gather customer requirements and turn them into actionable configuration documentation
  • Experience of working with third party vendors and delivering an effective SAP service using their services
  • Experience of helping to create roadmaps and deliver programmes to remove technical debt
  • A working knowledge of Cyber-security processes and practices

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computing science or related subject or equivalent experience
  • A relevant technical qualification or equivalent technical experience
