The Role
We’re looking to recruit an experienced Paid Search specialist to provide maternity cover to plan, manage and execute paid search campaigns for the University’s Central Marketing Paid Media team.
You will be joining a small team of paid media professionals within the wider Marketing and Communications Unit. Enhancing our ability to provide optimised paid media campaigns to support the achievement of student recruitment targets, promote excellence in research, engage with businesses and reach a range of audiences nationally and internationally.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working in-house, at an agency or as a freelancer, on a variety of PPC campaigns. From low budget short burst awareness to fully fledged high value cross market full funnel campaigns.
You will need to be comfortable analysing live and historic data to manually optimise Google search campaigns within MCC while also utilising the latest machine learning tools provided in platform to maximise campaign scale.
In this role you will be the lead for paid search, and asked to plan your own campaigns as much as integrate and enhance paid search elements in existing multi-channel campaign strategies.
As part of the wider Marketing Team you will have access to a variety of marketing professionals to support your campaign needs including copy specialists, web development and UX, creatives, e-mail marketing experts and full campaign strategists.

Key Accountabilities
- Lead the planning, development and execution of paid search campaigns working closely with campaign manager and content teams
- Build paid search campaigns with responsibility for monitoring, reporting on performance and campaign optimisation
- Be the point of contact for colleagues across the University in the understanding of Paid Search as a marketing tool, understanding the metrics available, audience make up etc
- Working with campaign managers and the Head of Digital Media, to propose appropriate channels to meet brief requirements
- Brief in copy and creative requirements for campaigns to relevant internal teams
- Work with Market Intelligence Managers to use audience research to capitalise on current trends and optimise on all relevant platforms.
- Identify and progress opportunities with new paid search tactics and technologies to expand the University’s reach and lower cost-per-acquisition
- Work closely with colleagues responsible for SEO to provide insight into creative performance on paid channels to optimise organic campaign content
- Manage and report on campaign budgets
- Monitor and evaluate the University’s paid search marketing using audience research, channel specific dashboards, Google Analytics 4 and landing page sources to identify correlations between prospecting activities, revenue and budget
- Manage external agency delivery of outsourced projects
The Person
Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential)
- Have a strong track record of planning, executing and optimising complex paid search campaigns
- A knowledge of other paid marketing channels and their use in a multi-channel, full funnel campaign
- Sound knowledge of analytic tools such as Google Analytics 4
- Sound IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office 365 packages
- Highly organised with strong analytical and MS Excel skills
- Report writing skills
Desirable
- Experience managing paid search campaigns for use in higher education marketing preferred
Qualifications (essential)
- Up to date Google Ads Search certification is essential
