Salary: £21,197 with progression to £22,662 per annum, pro rata

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to commence a career in event management, student recruitment or higher education administrative support. Working as part of the Education Team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of an excellent student and colleague experience. 


The successful candidate will work as part of a team recruiting new students to the School of Engineering community. This includes answering standard queries by new and prospective applicants and supporting recruitment events, such as Open days, where Academic colleagues showcase our programmes and buildings. You will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth and effective running of events, creating timetables, and setting up the event spaces. You will also assist with the delivery of our student induction week where we welcome all new students onto campus and the Overseas Programme where we welcome students from our Singapore campus to the School of Engineering.

The appointment is open-ended and is offered on a part-time basis (0.6FTE), available from February 2023.

Key Accountabilities

  • Guide and support students and academic colleagues with standard queries and general requests in an efficient and timely manner, referring onwards where appropriate
  • Work alongside the Education Team to check and update student data using University systems
  • Provide and update documentation and data collection for Education processes which could include updating modules, regulations, and timetabling activities
  • Provide support for School events such as student induction, student social events and University and School visit days
  • To act as secretary to designated meetings and committees including agenda preparation and circulation, producing bullet point actions and monitoring progress of actions

  • Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes

  • Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent OR significant relevant work experience in an administrative or customer service setting
