Salary: £21,197 with progression to £22,662 per annum

The Role 

Accommodation Services are looking to recruit a motivated individual to provide high quality supervisory service based within the Residence Team at Park View Student Village. Experience of working as part of a team and in a customer service environment is essential.

You must also have a flexible approach to working and be able to work at other Residence sites as required.


Your main purpose is to support the provision of quality Accommodation Services (AS) to University Customers through supervising a team of staff. 

The hours of work are 9:30am – 6pm Monday to Thursday. Friday 10am- 6pm. Weekend work may be required as business needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • To supervise and co-ordinate the daily activities of motivated and competent teams to ensure that day to day activities and requirements are met to deliver a high level of service in accordance with Accommodation Services’ (AS) policies, procedures and standards e.g. schedule and assign work, undertake checks and quality control inspections 
  • Ensure that work environment and work practices comply with operating procedures, health and safety legislation, etc. This involves completing predetermined checklists and promoting health and safety awareness amongst the staff, maintaining good communication and that paperwork etc is up to date and available 
  • Support the line manager in staff recruitment, selection, performance development and administration e.g. short listing applicants for interview, assisting with interviews. 
  • Undertaking effective Performance and Development Reviews (PDR) 
  • To ensure that residents, staff, visitors and contractors comply with residence security procedures e.g. control/issue of keys, key holding accountability etc. 
  • Ensure staff follow correct procedures in reporting of complaints/defects/damages/hazards so that they are processed and dealt with correctly and that any problems are communicated to customer and line manager. 
  • Report any concerns relating to a customer’s wellbeing in accordance with Service guidelines to ensure the health and welfare of all customers 
  • Oversee the safe use and storage of all equipment and goods (electronically hand held tools, chemicals, food and beverages etc.) ensuring compliance with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Health and Safety regulations and Service policy and procedures 
  • Assist with all aspects of stock control through accurate record keeping of products, materials, linen, conference incidentals and literature to ensure levels are sufficient and minimise wastage 
  •  Assist the University in promotional activities e.g. arranging and ‘dressing’ accommodation for open days, showing potential students and other visitors around on open days, ensuring an efficient service is provided for Conference delegates, day visitors etc. 
  • Support the Services commitment to training and development by participating fully in training courses designed to improve personal skill levels and knowledge. Oversee and where appropriate deliver training and development to staff e.g. PDR and Induction
