Research Assistant: £31,396 to 32,982 per annum

Research Associate: £33,966 to £36,024 per annum

The Role

 

The School of Engineering are looking for a Research Assistant/Associate to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional collaborative team in the field of Li-ion battery safety.  You will play a vital role in the SafeBatt project (funded by the Faraday Institution).

 

Your role is to take lead and help the SafeBatt Team during preparations for experiments, assembly of the systems, charging and discharging of batteries (modules/ EV packs) and the installation of sensors, thermocouples etc.  A key part of your role will be the analysis of the data produced by these activities.

 

The role involves carrying out tests in external facilities so it important that you can travel for periods of around 1-2 weeks at a time.  These field work activities include working outside in varying environmental conditions including lifting and carrying heavy equipment.

 

You will have the opportunity to work with many external collaborators on different sites.  Due to the work being carried out on external sites, appointment will be subject to Baseline Personal Security Screening.
