We are delighted to open applications for Reader/Professor in Mechanical Drive Systems at Newcastle University as part of our ongoing investment in the School of Engineering.

 

Building on the global reputation of Newcastle University's School of Engineering, we aim to significantly enhance our research and teaching capacities in Mechanical Engineering targeting the design, manufacture and performance of mechanical drive and propulsion systems. These fields are increasingly critical in the broader engineering context, driving innovations that underpin advancements in key strategic research areas for our School including future transport, net zero and electrification, energy, robotics and digital manufacturing.


You will have a strong academic profile in a relevant field and a proven leadership track record, highlighting the candidate's ability to guide and influence within an academic setting and make a significant contribution to the School, the Faculty and the University. You will also demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and a track record of using effective methods for learning and teaching.


As senior members of our professoriate, you will foster collaboration within our multidisciplinary School, working alongside a diverse and dynamic team of exceptional researchers and educators.
