The Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced IT Programme and Project Manager to lead and motivate programme and project teams in the delivery of the University’s Technology Portfolio, creating the conditions necessary for success.
You will provide specialist IT project management and leadership, with accountability for delivery and completion of programmes and projects within agreed timescales, budget, and quality.
You will have opportunity to manage a range of complex and multilayered technology initiatives, in the delivery of the portfolio, offering a unique chance to gain knowledge and insight of both the IT industry and the higher education sector.
About you:
We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate the following qualities:
- Experience with one or more project management methodologies (for example, APM, Prince 2, agile, PMI or PMBOK) gained in both Waterfall and Agile/Lean
- Experience running programmes or projects, particularly complex, multi-faceted IT-centric activities and/or digital transformation
- Ability to win commitment and support from senior and influential colleagues across the University, brokering complex technical agreements across the organisation and with external parties
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills, in an environment where resources may not be in direct control
- Excellent planning and prioritisation skills, simultaneously balancing a number of large and complex projects (knowledge of planning tools with evidence of practical application would be advantageous)
- Demonstrated ability to forecast and quantify resource requirements
- Demonstrated ability to proactively manage programme and projects risks
- Ability to quantify and measure programme and project benefits, including realisation planning
- Excellent analytical and project solving skills
- Highly customer-focussed and service orientated
- Ability to work under pressure and with a fair degree of autonomy, while also contributing to and supporting team working
