The Role 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing and events professional to join Hydrogen Integration for Accelerated Energy Transition (HI-ACT) Hub.nManaged from Newcastle University, the HI-ACT Hub is a £12M EPSRC/UKRI funded investment and the project comprises a consortium of 12 universities.

 

The UK Government has set out high expectations for the role of hydrogen in its future energy plans. Through our research, we want to develop a better understanding of the potential pathways for integrating hydrogen into future energy use.

 

The postholder will support the development, implementation and management of the Research Hub’s marketing plans and organise a number of high-quality events.

 

Working closely with the Project Manager and Research and Impact Coordinator, this role is a part-time, fixed-term contract of 3 or 4 days per week until 30th May 2028.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Work with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and Project Manager to implement the marketing and events strategy
  • Manage and coordinate events and engagement specific tasks and targets to meet project objectives and deadlines whilst working closely with PIs and Project Manager to ensure funders are kept informed of progress and changes as appropriate. This will include webinars, launches, conferences, industry workshops etc
  • Working with partners to develop and deliver an integrated marketing and communications calendar in order to support key activities
  • Content planning and copywriting for a wide range of stakeholders, including industry partners, academics and research and technology organisations (RTO)s
  • Support maintaining project websites, newsletters and social media platforms
  • Responsible for working with internal teams and external suppliers as appropriate to deliver digital and printed marketing materials
  • Coordinate the administrative services for the assigned research project, working closely with other departments and services
  • Use digital metrics to monitor success of marketing activities and campaigns and maintaining an up-to-date database of mailing list contacts
  • Proactively receive, resolve and respond to enquiries received into the project, to ensure that an effective service and clear advice is provided to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Support Steering Groups, Advisory Boards, and other formal bodies constituted to oversee project delivery within the areas of marketing and events
  • Build and maintain relationships with project partners across multiple institutions and facilitate effective internal communications across project teams
  • Maintain financial records, manage outputs and impacts and publicise project outcomes
  • Support Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) related activity across related projects as required
  • Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

 

 

The Person

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience across all marketing channels including social media, events, website, SEO etc
  • Digital and print copywriting experience and knowledge of producing publicity materials
  • Experience of event management, with considerable relevant experience in an event co-ordinating role, preferably within a higher education establishment or other large organisation
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent time management, organisation and administration skills
  • Working knowledge of financial record keeping and reporting and project management

 

Desirable

  • Experience of Equality Diversity and Inclusion related activity and considerations when organising events and drafting content
  • Experience of web editing using a content management system (CMS)
  • Awareness of scientific sectors such as the Hydrogen sector

Qualifications

 

  • A level (or equivalent) qualification, plus work experience in a relevant role; or substantial relevant work experience in a comparable setting

 

Desirable

  • Marketing, Communications, Events professional qualification (e.g. CIM Certificate)
