The Role

 

We’re looking for a Marketing Co-ordinator to join us here at Newcastle University. You will work within the Marketing Production Team to plan, create, and edit effective and optimised print and digital content to support strategic objectives and user requirements.

 

You will provide support for print and digital projects, managing content workflow and maintaining content guidelines and standards.

 

You will also lead the day-to-day administration, monitoring and implementation of the University’s corporate brand, to ensure the continued production of high impact, beautifully branded material.

 

Your role is integral to the Marketing Production team, which sits within the wider Marketing Team, to deliver expert publishing and brand advice and high-quality, on-brand printed and digital materials across all markets.

 Key Accountabilities

  • Work as part of a team to produce a wide range of printed and digital on-brand marketing materials across all University audiences, with lead responsibility for designated projects
    Prepare specifications and briefs, obtain estimates, and purchase print and design from the external print and design companies
  • Support brand implementation across the University, with day-to-day responsibility for monitoring and responding to brand enquiries. Implement University content design and brand principles, including house style to ensure consistency across the University’s portfolio of content
  • Where appropriate, participate in internal and external client meetings, planning sessions and wash-ups
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on technical and practical publishing issues including production processes, house style, design approach, use of the University brand, commissioning and use of photography, buying design and print, copyright, data protection, and proof reading/sub-editing techniques to colleagues within the University
  • Assist with the upkeep of the University’s brand asset management system, to ensure easy access for colleagues across the University to an up-to-date library of brand assets and images; including support for the coding and captioning of photographs prior to them being uploaded into the main photo library
  • Marketing production lead for the University’s virtual event platform, including external supplier management, platform and asset development, workload resource planning and end-to-end project management
  • Support the Marketing Production Manager with the planning and monitoring of schedules and workflow for the Marketing Production Team, with lead responsibility for project set up and management through the use of the project management tool Wrike
  • Manage the rankings database on behalf of the Marketing Team to inform marketing collateral
  • Other duties as identified by members of the Marketing Leadership Team

 

The Person

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience of the design and print industry – design and print processes; proofing techniques; terminology; design and print buying
  • Significant experience of the principles and application of marketing, branding and design
  • Strong time management and administrative skills
  • Excellent proof-reading skills
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy/quality and a long attention span
  • Knowledge and experience of online authoring and digital publishing
  • An ability to write clearly and accurately in a range of styles appropriate to target audiences
  • IT and web – standard Excel and Word packages and aptitude to learn new specialist packages eg SAP, e-recruitment systems, Adobe creative suite and e-print/digital print/CRM software
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at same time
  • Able to identify and manage internal and external stakeholders, building relationships whilst meeting user needs. You will understand how to work with stakeholders and contribute to building relationship, using evidence to explain decisions made
  • Strong motivation for delivering an excellent customer service
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven success in building relationships, internally and externally, influence and drive decisions
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education sector is desirable

Qualifications

  • Academic or vocational qualifications (minimum A levels or equivalent) and at least 24-months’ relevant professional experience
