The Role
To work closely with the Learning and Teaching Manager (MBBS), with responsibility for the management of assessment related activities in the School’s programmes, which includes managing an administrative team.

Key Accountabilities
• To provide support in the delivery of the School learning and teaching strategies relating to MBBS and PA programme. This involves implementation of learning and teaching objectives, strategies, and decisions in order to meet the aims and objectives of the School, Faculty and University, including involvement in NUMed where appropriate
• To ensure activities relating to learning, teaching and the student experience for MBBS are carried out effectively and with a commitment to enhanced efficiency and quality. To interpret related policies and procedures for implementation, ensuring where appropriate, student health and safety is managed
• To manage large and complex assessment data, and assist with the preparation and delivery of MBBS and PA examinations
• To manage School compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations and responding Freedom of Information Act requests
• Robust implementation and adherence to Programme, Faculty and University policies and procedures. This will include undertaking investigations and Panel high level support for Fitness to Practice cases
• Manage process of appointment and support of External Examiners. Lead on collation and review of External Examiner reports; compiling the response on issues identified for Boards of Studies
• Manage the planning cycle including dissemination of agreed dates and schedules in conjunction with NUMed colleagues and NHS partners
• To work in partnership and provide advice to NHS staff in the Region in support of the Newcastle programme, including the identification and promotion of process improvement
• To provide support for designated committees and/or Boards
• To contribute to the achievement of all aspects of Quality Assurance requirements and processes including internal and external subject reviews, degree programme reviews, module and programme evaluation, and action relating to external industry and professional accrediting body advice and compliance as they relate to the MBBS
• To support the student experience for MBBS, including deputising for Learning and Teaching Manager(s)
• Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Experience of line managing staff
• An ability to assess and analyse problems and suggest solutions; make informed decisions and take responsibility; be innovative, use initiative and work independently
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to the audience
• Excellent planning and organising skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
• Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
• Excellent IT skills. Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and ability to type documents with both reasonable speed and accuracy and the ability to manipulate and analyse information for management purposes
• Experience of coordinating and managing complex meetings with a wide range of stakeholders
Desirable
• Demonstrable experience of working in a Learning and Teaching environment in a HEI
• Experience of supporting Quality Assurance standards

Qualifications
• Degree or equivalent level qualification plus experience in a similar role or significant vocational experience, demonstrating development through progressively more demanding, relevant roles
