Salary: £18,852.00 per annum, pro rata

The role

 

We are looking for a number of individuals to join us and provide a professional and customer-focused catering service to students and visitors. You’ll assist with a variety of tasks, helping to keep the kitchen clean and tidy and ensuring that food is well prepared and presented. With experience in ideally within catering or hospitality, you’ll maintain our high standards and demonstrate a positive attitude at all times. Working in the catering team requires an element of physical manual handling, which can include lifting and transporting.

Key Accountabilities

 

•             To wash and clear away a range of cutlery, crockery, utensils and catering equipment to ensure adequate clean stock for the Chef Team and customer use.

•             To remove waste daily ensuring correct manual handling procedures to designated locations and storage, having due regard to Health & Safety guidelines. This will include washing/cleaning bins and sweeping the refuse area to ensure it is kept tidy.

•             To clean and maintain designated interior and/or exterior catering areas and associated equipment, fixtures and fittings within them to pre-determined cleaning schedules and frequencies in order to ensure a high standard of hygiene at all times.

•             To assist in the setting up and clearing of dining and other function rooms e.g. laying out tables and chairs to a pre-determined layout as required during term and vacation periods.

•             To identify and report any defects, damage or hazards in the workplace e.g. to fixtures and fittings and equipment to ensure corrective action is carried out promptly and taking immediate action where possible to warn others and/or remove hazards e.g. cordon off area, place warning sign or immediately mopping up a spillage.

•             Where required, assist with receipt of incoming stock, issue and control, using predetermined checklists, pricing and product rotation in order to ensure an efficient service and minimal wastage.

•             To support the Service’s commitment to training and development by participating fully in training courses designed to improve personal skill levels and knowledge.
