The Role

 

The Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Education Team Leader to join the SAgE Faculty Professional Services team based within the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences.

Working as part of the Education Team, the postholder will contribute to the successful delivery of an excellent student and colleague experience. You will provide administrative oversight to ensure the smooth and effective running of the school’s taught programmes where you will support students, academic colleagues, and education committees. Your duties will span the full student lifecycle from recruitment, registration, assessment, and progression to graduation. You will also be responsible for coordinating key academic committees and processes. Leading a team, you will provide a high-quality student and colleague experience ensuring education and other activities are fully supportive of the School’s objectives.

 

We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills, which will help you relate to our students, academic colleagues, and senior stakeholders. You should also be adept in organising, prioritising, and managing time effectively to ensure the smooth delivery of education administration. You should have a keen eye for detail and look to identify and implement improvements wherever possible. Working with a variety of stakeholders, you will demonstrate initiative, efficiency, attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible to support the wider team.

The position is open-ended and offered on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) with an immediate starting date. Key Accountabilities 

  • To develop, deliver and manage a coordinated service to colleagues and students to the highest possible standard of customer service
  • Recruit, lead, manage and develop staff in the team with responsibility for their professional development. This will include the allocation and prioritisation of duties to ensure the area of activity operates effectively and efficiently
  • Responsible for implementing annual teaching, admissions and assessment calendar and working closely with other colleagues in schools/faculties and the wider university to ensure alignment with the University’s strategies, policies, guidelines and approaches
  • Take a proactive approach to developing and implementing systems and processes for high quality efficient and effective service
  • To provide effective and efficient administrative support to colleagues, including acting as a team expert in an education area
  • To take responsibility for resolution of queries as the most senior local point of contact in the team across all areas of administrative support

 

The Person 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Good numeracy and IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes, together with confidence in handling and analysing data from a diverse range of sources    
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiating influencing and relationship building and developing and working as part of a team
  • Experience of leading and managing a team  
  • Evidence of a proactive, creative and flexible approach to problem-solving. A ‘can-do’ approach  
  • Experience of establishing, reviewing and monitoring administrative systems in office environments to improve processes to maximise efficiency  
  • An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audiences  
  • Demonstrates high energy and commitment to the delivery of excellent customer service   
  • High level of organisational and time management skills, able to manage a range of tasks simultaneously    
  • Experience of managing and training colleagues  
  • Proactively assesses and manages risks and makes changes of approach if necessary    
  • Experience of administration within a further or higher education role e.g. teaching, admissions or assessment

Qualifications

  • A-levels/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent  
  • Significant relevant experience in an administrative setting demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles
