Salary: £20,092 with progression to £21,686 per annum

The Role


We are seeking to hire two motivated Education Assistants to join SAgE Faculty Professional Services team based in the School of Natural & Environmental Sciences. 


You will primarily support the education function, working collegiately with the wider Professional Services teams in the School together with internal stakeholders in order to provide a comprehensive administrative support and ensure the continuous smooth running of the School’s taught programmes.  


This is an exciting opportunity to provide a high quality service to students and academic colleagues covering administrative activities related to the student learning life cycle. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality of programme delivery through supporting annual review processes and being a point of contact for our taught students and academic colleagues.  


We are looking for individuals who are confident communicators and have great interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of seniority. It is essential that you possess excellent organisational skills and work in a timely and planned way, have a keen eye for detail and look to identify and implement improvements wherever possible.  Working with a variety of stakeholders, you will complete a range of administration tasks, demonstrating initiative, efficiency, attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible to support the wider team.


Being computer literate and having an up to date knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential.

Key Accountabilities

  • To provide administrative support to the education function of the School in order to achieve an excellent student and colleague experience
  • Responsible for ensuring information is up to date in annual documentation, such as modules and regulations, and in various University systems such as SAP, Module Outline Forms and Canvas Ensuring the timely distribution of information to students and colleagues
  • Responsible for ensuring that students are appropriately registered for their programme and modules and that their data is up to date using University systems
  • Responsible for ensuring students are allocated a personal tutor, and for monitoring meetings between tutors and tutees via the ePortfolio system
  • Responsible for receipt and collation of exam papers from academic colleagues and for tracking and sending reminders regarding the marking of assessed to ensure it is processed within expected timescales
  • Act as secretary to Module Moderation Boards and Boards of Examiners, including agenda preparation and circulation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions. Transcribing or uploading marks to relevant University systems, i.e. NESS, Canvas.
  • Act as secretary to a variety of School meetings to support quality assurance and the student experience. This includes logistical arrangements such as room bookings, agenda preparation and circulation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions
  • Responsible for a range of student administration tasks including, but not limited to, student attendance monitoring and setting up evaluations
  • To work as part of the wider School team and be involved in activities such as Admissions and student recruitment events as required
  • Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to solve problems
  • Relevant work experience in a customer service environment (Desirable). Although work experience is desirable, this is not essential and full training will be provided


  • Working knowledge of relevant systems (SAP, NESS, MOFs, Blackboard, Syllabus Plus, Evasys)

  • Grades A-C in English Language and Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent) or vocational qualifications
