The Role

Newcastle University invites applications for the prestigious EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship. The Fellowship is an opportunity for the very best EPSRC-funded PhD students to receive 24 months of additional support following their PhD.

The EPSRC Doctoral Prize is aimed at increasing the impact of the PhD in terms of publications, knowledge transfer and outreach. The Fellowship is also designed to act as a first step towards an independent research career.

The EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow will be required to propose a novel research project in an area that fits within the EPSRC’s funding remit https://epsrc.ukri.org/funding/applicationprocess/basics/remit/

As well as undertaking significant new work the fellowship can also be used to complete key publications resulting from the PhD, develop research networks, facilitate knowledge transfer and deliver outreach activities. The scheme is designed to offer support and flexibility and the applicant should outline the exact details of the fellowship.

Applicants should identify an appropriate academic member of staff at Newcastle University to discuss their planned research proposal. This Project Sponsor must be willing to support an applicant’s project and, where appropriate, host the project in their lab.

The fellowship position will be funded for a period of 24 months and will have a starting salary of £30,942.  Candidates can also apply for funding for consumables, travel and outreach activities to support your research as part of the application process.

Please read the additional Fellowship guidelines document and complete the required additional paperwork before submitting your application, these can be found using this link:https://www.ncl.ac.uk/sage/research/
