The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and driven individual to join our team as a Digital Marketing Officer within the Children’s Cancer North charity team.
Children’s Cancer North has a broad and growing portfolio of events and campaigns that raise vital funds to make life better for children with cancer. This role will support the delivery of these activities, with creative freedom to shape campaigns and take ownership of selected events. We are particularly keen to attract new audiences and generate new income streams for the charity, and you will play a key role in helping us achieve this.
While previous charity experience is welcome, it is not essential. What matters most is strong marketing experience, a passion for storytelling, and confidence using digital tools and platforms.
You will lead on managing and developing our social media channels, creating engaging content that inspires support and drives action. Strong copywriting skills are essential, as is the ability to confidently interview a range of contributors — including internal staff, fundraisers, beneficiaries and family members — to create compelling, informal blog content that brings our work to life.
We use WordPress and Google Analytics, so experience with these platforms would be advantageous. However, above all, we are looking for someone with an aptitude and enthusiasm for digital marketing, audience growth, and impactful written content.
This role offers creative scope and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference. You’ll receive tailored training and support depending on your development needs.
You’ll be joining a small, supportive team of seven colleagues and one regular volunteer, who have worked for the charity between one and ten years. The role reports to Jennifer Crozier. As part of your onboarding, Jenn will provide training on processes, safeguarding context, and guidance before you begin speaking with family members or beneficiaries.
If you are a confident communicator, passionate about digital storytelling, and motivated to use your marketing skills to create real-world impact, we would love to hear from you.
This is a fixed term role for 2 years.
For all informal enquires please contact jennifer.crozier@newcastle.ac.uk
To apply for this position, please submit a copy of your CV outlining how you meet the essential criteria in the job description. We encourage you to include a supporting cover letter highlighting examples of your experience in relation to the below bullet points:

- Excellent digital copywriting and proof-reading skills, with a proven ability to create engaging, accessible content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
