The Role
This is exciting opportunity to join an inspiring education development team in a world class University. We are looking for a creative people centred colleague who will support a variety of education development strategic initiatives with a significant focus on digital education. In partnership with staff and students, you will develop high quality, accessible, engaging and effective digital learning content (including text, images, illustrations, video, audio, quizzes, animations, and other digital learning experiences as required) for online and blended delivery consistent with established practices in the University. A background in digital media, graphic design, film/video, learning technology or a related area would be helpful in this role.
This post is based in the Digital Education Projects Team in the University’s Learning and Teaching Development Service (LTDS). It:
- Supports the development of innovative interactive learning resources and online experiences.
- Supports projects and core services and helps develop institutional capacity in, and promote the adoption of digital education.
- Supports a range of digital education, educational development, and institutional quality enhancement activities.

This is a part time post for 18.5 Hours per week
Key Accountabilities

With guidance from the Team Manager, accountabilities include supporting academic units and staff engaged in delivering and supporting learning, teaching and assessment
- Working with academic teams to create high quality, accessible, engaging and effective digital learning content (including text, images, illustrations, video, audio, quizzes, animations, and other digital learning resources as required) for online and blended delivery consistent with established practices in the University
- Researching, evaluating and developing effective practice and innovative approaches to learning and teaching (including but not limited to digital education) to support the delivery of a high-quality student learning experience
- Contributing to the development, approval and implementation of institutional strategy, policy and practice in relation to digital education and educational development
- Supporting a portfolio of digital education and educational development activities and projects at institutional, faculty, academic unit and programme levels, in line with University strategies and the LTDS Strategic Plan
- Securing copyright permissions (with guidance from the Digital Education Projects Team Manager)
- Working in partnership with academic and professional services colleagues across the institution to develop and disseminate innovative and effective approaches to providing an excellent education experience for students
- Contributing to the design, development and delivery of a range of staff development as part of our Learning and Teaching Development Programme
- Supporting the work of steering groups and user groups relating to digital education, and other educational development projects
- Supporting internal/external projects to aid delivery of objectives set out in the University’s Education Strategy and/or the LTDS Strategic Plan
- Any other duties consistent with the post’s grade, as requested by senior colleagues
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- The ability to produce high quality accessible digital media content for digital education delivery (this may include filming and editing, photography, digital illustration and animation)
- Digital media production skills, including storyboarding, scheduling, pre- and post-production editing using Adobe Creative Cloud products or equivalent
- The ability to manage and prioritise own workload, solve problems, and use own initiative appropriately
- Experience of formatting and publishing content for the web
- The ability to work effectively within a team and establish, maintain and communicate within relevant internal and external networks of contacts across a wide range of partnerships
- Experience of organising activities involving groups of people
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- A commitment to continuing professional development and to the mission and values of the service
