The Role
Our security team play a pivotal role in ensuring that our students, visitors, and colleagues have a safe and enjoyable experience on campus. Integral to the work of the security team is the work of the CCTV Operators. This role includes operating and monitoring all systems, including the University CCTV System, within the Control Centre in a professional and efficient manner and provide an emergency response service to Schools/Services throughout the University. As part of the requirements for the role, shift work and some overtime will be required. Working in a team of four you will have the opportunity for development, and we will fund your SIA licence as well as pay a 20% shift allowance on top of your basic salary.

Key Accountabilities
- Operate and monitor all systems within the Security Control Centre in an efficient manner ensuring that all work is undertaken in compliance with GDPR, the University CCTV Code of Practice & Operating Instructions, whilst ensuring the rights of individuals are preserved
- Liaise with the Police, other agencies, and colleagues to ensure the appropriate use of the system
- Record on-line all incidents, events and actions taken in a clear, legible, and accurate format
- To provide an efficient and courteous answering service and deal efficiently with all enquiries
- Report equipment failure to the Duty Team Leader/Supervisor to optimise operation of the system
- Support the Estate Security Manager and supervisory colleagues through the monitoring of the maintenance programme ensuring full and continuous operation of the system
- Assist in feeding in ideas about future developments of the Control Room and the University CCTV systems
- Assist with management of recorded data, including preview, image retrieval, archiving and production to authorised agencies of digital images, alarm monitoring and response with compliance to GDPR
- Attend Court to give evidence as per any statements provided, when required
- Assist in the provision of an emergency response service to Schools/Services throughout the University

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of handling sensitive data
- Able to demonstrate MS Office skills and ability to use radios to communicate with team members
- Previous experience of working in a customer focused environment

Qualifications
- Hold a current CCTV Operators licence or be prepared to achieve this during your first 12 months
- Hold a current First Aid at Work certificate or be prepared to achieve this within your first 6 months
