Salary: £31,406 to £33,309 with progression to £40,927 per annum

The Role


The Business Process Improvement Analyst plays a key role in the delivery of University-wide Business Improvement and Continuous Improvement projects and initiatives. As a member of the Strategic Projects and Change Team, you will support the maturity and effectiveness of University-wide strategic change and business improvement activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Senior Managers in the development of a business process improvement programme, particularly around professional service functions, developing senior stakeholder understanding, commitment and buy-in to the programme
  • Support senior stakeholders in understanding the key priorities for process and service improvement; drawing upon an understanding of the current landscape of processes and services, their performance and the potential benefits to be realised from improvement initiatives
  • Support and deliver business process review initiatives, through the application and evaluation of appropriate methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness and ensure value for money
  • Ensure that business process improvement projects are delivered effectively and result in performance improvement, managing the delivery from initiation, baseline performance measurement through to benefits delivery, evaluation and insight
  • Facilitate the development and roll-out of the University’s Business Process Improvement Toolkit, informed by an up-to-date understanding of the tools, techniques and approaches that deliver results in the University’s culture and context
  • Champion and promote a culture of continuous business process improvement and innovation, and to support this with building a wider network of organisational capacity for business process improvement
  • Undertake other specific projects on behalf of the Head of Strategic Projects and Change as determined from time to time
  • Actively participate in the Project & Change Managers Community forum, showing innovation and initiative in the development of a university-wide approach to Project and Change Management


The Person 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

  • Experience of supporting Senior Managers in designing longer-term business process improvement and continuous improvement programmes in a large complex organisation
  • Experience in business analysis, able to evaluate and draw conclusions from a range of complex data and information about process and service performance 
  • Highly developed business process improvement skills and ability to promote process improvements to system owners
  • Experience of business process review workshop facilitation with multiple clients and application of relevant change and improvement methodologies
  • High analytical skills, logical, good at problem solving and conceptual thinking with demonstrable skills in extracting and interpreting relevant information to inform business decisions and change proposals
  • An understanding of the Higher Education sector and the political and policy, regulatory and reporting context research intensive universities operate in
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills. Has the ability to communicate, (both written and oral), effectively at all levels within the organisation
  • Be innovative, creative and dynamic and not afraid to challenge the status quo. Have an enthusiastic approach to leading continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level and/or relevant professional experience
  • Project, Change Management or Business Improvement qualification e.g. Six Sigma or LEAN
