The Economics Group within Newcastle University Business School is expanding at pace and currently has over 30 full-time research and teaching staff. We are a collegiate and generalist group with expertise in all areas of economics. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality and attract high qualified students to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The Group has a vibrant Research Community that currently promotes research around the following sub-themes:
• Applied Time Series Econometrics
• Behavioural and Experimental Economics
• Economics of Safety, Health, Environment and Risk
• Finance, Financial Economics and Financial Econometrics
• Labour, Health, Education and Development Economics
• Macroeconomics, Policies and Institutions in Open Economic Systems
• Spatial, Urban, Regional, International and Industrial Economics 

Group members have active funded projects in a range of areas including the Creative Industries and their internationalisation, Education, Development, Energy, Environmental, and Rural Economics. The Group also hosts a state-of-the-art Behavioural Research Laboratory.


We seek to appoint a Reader in Economics with an outstanding international research reputation, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and a track record of leadership and academic citizenship. Whilst we invite applications from strong candidate from all fields of economics, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in applied time series / econometric theory.


Newcastle University Business School is located in Newcastle City Centre and at the gateway to the Newcastle Helix, a £350million partnership between Newcastle University, Newcastle City Council and Legal and General, where business meets Science.
