Newcastle University seeks to appoint to the role of Professor of Neuromuscular Diseases & Honorary Consultant. This is a joint role between Newcastle University and Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, offering you the opportunity to work across both organisations, and to make a significant impact in both academic and service domains. 

 

As part of the vision for Neuromuscular Research in Newcastle, the Professor of Neuromuscular Diseases is established to enhance the regional contribution to neuromuscular research and education. It will be directed to translational research in neuromuscular diseases including clinical trial development.

 

You will join the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre led by Professor Volker Straub.  In addition to being an honorary member of the Northern Genetics Service you will be a full member of an academic Institute at Newcastle University.

 

You will provide strategic leadership and develop research within the field of neuromuscular diseases particularly within translational area. There will be close working links with other institutes and the Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
