The role 

 

We are recruiting for two energetic, ambitious and motivated marketing ‘Graduate Ambassadors’.

 

Working within our professional marketing team, the posts will support the delivery of marketing and recruitment activities which present Newcastle University to prospective students. There will be a particular focus on delivering social media and events, but also provide some real insights into what it’s like to study here and everything Newcastle University has to offer!

 

This is a superb opportunity for anyone who would like a start in the marketing, creative, digital or PR fields.

 

You must be highly energetic, demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational and written communication skills and be comfortable and confident with all forms of social media. You will have the confidence to deliver presentations and a range of activities to engage prospective students, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

 

Your role will, in particular, support our widening participating agenda, so you must have a passionate belief in the value of the role of Higher Education in making dreams become reality. You must be able to work well as part of a team, use your own initiative and possess a creative approach to this dynamic team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with relevant colleagues in marketing to plan, develop and deliver student-focused interactive activities and presentations to prospective postgraduate students and applicants.
  • Assist with the organisation of and attendance at a range of recruitment/widening participation events and activities on-campus and throughout the UK for prospective students. This can include large conventions, University Open Days, small on-campus events and virtual interactions.
  • Development and delivery of a programme of student-led on-campus events and digital and social platform marketing related activities.
  • Co-ordinate the recruitment of a group of student ambassadors.
  • Organisation and engagement of student ambassadors to help support a wide range of recruitment activities, including the preparation and delivery of training/briefing sessions, day-to-day communications and work allocation.
  • Support the engagement and organisation of current  students in activities such as writing student profiles and photoshoots.
  • Contribute to the development and production of recruitment-related publicity / marketing information to raise the profile of the taught student experience at the University.
  • Organise and deliver  marketing and student recruitment market research such as mystery shopping, competitor research and student led focus groups.
  • Prepare relevant reports about the activities undertaken.
  • Contribute to such other relevant duties and activities as may be identified by the Director or relevant senior managers of the Marketing Team/Faculties.

  • Awareness of issues relating to progression, recruitment and admission of students in postgraduate education
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet Explorer

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate of Newcastle University either an undergraduate or postgraduate taught or research degree (within 24 months of commencing appointment)
