Salary: £25,941 - £27,511 per annum

The Role


We are looking for a person who is dynamic, results orientated and passionate about excellence and innovation with the potential to become an outstanding relationship manager and who can demonstrate practical people skills. 


You will assume a specific regional responsibility focusing on international student recruitment as well as supporting the development and delivery of regional strategies.  You will support our activity across a number of regions.   The role is varied and provides a range of other experiences and development opportunities including: sales and marketing; operational management; and supporting the planning and delivery of broader engagement activity, enabling you to build on the University’s profile and reputation.  You will develop and manage a range of relationships interacting closely with the other International Office teams, and a wide range of Academic and Professional Services units both within the University and in-region.

Key Accountabilities


  • Contribute to the development and implementation of international recruitment, relations and partnership strategies for Newcastle University
  • With support from the International Office Management team, take responsibility for student recruitment, market development and relationship management in one or more key target regions for international student recruitment and engagement
  • Manage and plan for regional engagement for specified target regions covering: 

             - International student recruitment and marketing 

             - Partnerships and stakeholder relations 

             - Developing profile and reputation 

  • Represent Newcastle University on visits and events overseas and on campus in support of University objectives. The volume of travel may be extensive but will vary in accordance with strategic priorities
  • Manage and modify processes and systems for international student recruitment and international relationship and partnership development
  • Undertake market research, data analysis and reporting to provide high quality market intelligence in support of international objectives
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with international institutions, agents and other strategic international partners, with the aim of achieving strategic objectives
  • Develop effective working relationships with staff in academic and professional service units involved in international activities
  • To co-ordinate and participate in incoming and outgoing international visits in support of international activities
  • Any other duties as directed

Knowledge, Skills and Experience    


  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to relate to and interact with, people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • An aptitude for information management and data analysis
  • Team player, able to initiate, develop and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Initiative and the ability to prioritise, handle a complex workload and be self-reliant
  • Evidence of commercial competence
  • A high-level of organisation and administrative competence
  • Evidence of delivery in a customer-focused environment
  • Results orientated
  • Flexibility regarding working hours and a willingness to undertake international travel when required
  • Knowledge of international Higher Education (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of one or more languages other than English, particularly those relevant to international educational engagement (Desirable)
  • Language Skills (Desirable)



  • Educated to a Level 4 award/HNC or equivalent or an appropriate combination of relevant qualifications and demonstrable transferrable experience
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent (Desirable)
