The Role

 

We have reimagined the way we deliver our University IT Services, building a world-class IT department responsive to the needs of our global community. You will provide technical support to staff using AV technology in spaces across campus and assist with elements of AV provision during refurbishment and new-build projects.  You will work closely with members of the team and with other colleagues across the University to ensure effective service delivery.

 

You will have excellent communication, organisational and technical troubleshooting skills, and be committed to delivering excellent service.

 

Previous experience working in a technical role within the education sector is desirable.

 

There will be a requirement to provide support to events held outside of normal working hours, for which overtime will be paid.

Key Accountabilities

  • To provide first, second and third line reactive technical support for customers using audio visual technologies ensuring minimal impact to university business in managed spaces.  This includes providing emergency support using remote management tools or attending in-person
  • To provide an end-to-end videoconference support service for in scope venues and assist any staff using relevant software, to ensure a stress-free customer experience
  • To perform installation, configuration, and programming of audio-visual technologies in managed spaces, ensuring that it works as expected
  • To provide technical services utilising audio visual technologies in support of high-profile University events to ensure they run smoothly and successfully
  • To assist Senior AV Analysts during ESS-led Capital and Improvement projects to improve the facilities provided across the University
  • Act as an AV subject matter expert and use this knowledge to deliver excellence in operational support, project and change delivery and help in defining the future strategy
  • Understand and help to implement the team vision
  • Understand the Technology Roadmap and assist in its implementation as directed
  • Deliver any project or change related activity as part of wider NUIT or NU project teams as required
  • Ensure that policies, standards, procedures and guidelines are followed
  • Any other reasonable duties that fall within the scope of the post, as allocated by the line manager

 

The Person

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Technical background in our AV technologies
  • Experience of supporting and delivering AV services in a complex and geographically diverse organisation
  • Able to demonstrate focus on customer needs
  • A working knowledge of Cybersecurity processes and practices is essential
  • Must be willing and able to obtain any certifications required for this role including security clearances, health and safety regulations, working in hazardous environments etc.  Must be willing and able to work in all University settings including medical laboratories, human tissue laboratories, hazardous areas etc

Qualifications
