The advertised post is based at Newcastle University London. You will become part of the wider Newcastle University Business School academic community.

We seek to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour (Teaching and Research or Teaching and Scholarship) who can contribute to our BSc International Business Management and MSc International Business Management programmes and who is committed to the success and development of Newcastle University London and Newcastle University Business School. Individuals with a strong research or scholarly profile and with an interest in the Future of Work and developing future leaders, who care about nurturing academic colleagues and students to reach their potential and who connect with organisations are encouraged to apply.

For the T&R route you must have a PhD in a related area, as well as the ability to: secure research funding, publish in internationally recognised journals and conduct research with the potential to create impact. Candidates interested in the T&S route must have a relevant professional qualification, Masters degree or a PhD in a relevant subject. All applicants must also have the demonstrated capacity to deliver outstanding teaching and management of programmes in higher education. You will be required to undertake a Degree Programme Director (DPD) role.

 

The level of appointment will be determined by your ability to meet the requirements of the person specification and job description.

 

This is a three year Fixed Term post.

The Role

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the Business School and Newcastle University London (NUL) Vision and Strategy and the interdisciplinary themes of the Future of Work and leading on leadership;
  • Provide education for life, that engages, challenges and supports our students to discover and fulfil their potential both while they are studying with us and once they have graduated;
  • Contribute to the Business School’s Triple Accreditation and Professional Body Accreditations;
  • Demonstrate impact by developing research (T&R) or practice (T&S) based solutions to real-world problems and engage with external stakeholders to develop the impact of your work;
  • To have a commitment to high quality teaching and learning and student support;
  • Provide high quality teaching of modules within the Business School and NUL;
  • Coach and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor;
  • Set and mark assessment of modules in accordance with University standards and utilise on-line and digitised curricula and education frameworks;
  • Contribute to curriculum development;
  • Operate as an active citizen in the Business School and NUL community;

Teaching & Research (T&R) Specific Responsibilities:

  • To pursue external funding;
  • Contribute to the research profile of the Business School and NUL by publishing in high quality journals, demonstrating impact and winning external research funding;
  • Conduct research that demonstrates international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour in the subject area of Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour and ensure all our students benefit from studying in a research intensive, research excellent academic environment;

Teaching & Scholarship (T&S) Specific Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the scholarly and practice profile of the Business School and NUL by engaging in scholarly research and activities, impact, practice, CPD and external funding;

  • Experience of holistic, integrated programme-level design of learning, teaching and assessment strategies, to deliver learning opportunities that engage, challenge and inspire our students

  • An established research profile and proven track record in international and world-leading publication (T&R only)
  • A track record of securing external research funding (T&R only)
  • Evidence of/potential to develop and secure external funding for scholarly and practice activities (T&S only)
  • A track record of engaging with external stakeholders, generating real-world impact from research (T&R) and practice (T&S)
  • Experience of supervising research students to completion (T&R only)
  • Make effective use of technology to enhance learning
  • Evidence of effective use of discplinary and proactive scholarship and a developing scholarly and practice national profile (T&S only)
  • Skills in organisation and leadership necessary for undertaking a management and leadership role (e.g. in teaching and learning, research, impact or external engagement)

Qualifications

  • A good Honours degree in a relevant subject (T&R, T&S)
  • PhD (or equivalent) at or near completion in a relevant subject (T&R)
  • At least one of the following: (i) a relevant professional qualification or Masters degree; (ii) a PhD (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject (T&S)
  • A profile with currency which meets external accreditation bodies criteria (T&R, T&S)

 

In addition for Senior Lecturer level:

  • HE Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience) (T&R, T&S)
